Prostate volume Ultrasound shows 37.9 but MRI 24 ?

I have just noticed that my parametric MRI (not endorectal) shows my prostate volume as 24cc, but my Color Doppler Ultrasound (transrectal) shows my prostate as 37.9cc. Which one should I use as my prostate size? I assume because the US used a probe that it should be more accurate?

My RO tells me that US is generally more accurate. If your US gives separate volume figures for the transition zone and the peripheral zone, that's good to know too.

Is ultrasound really necessary for deciding on prostate size and as another tool to add to the equation such as PSa, free psa, PCA3, and MRI? Is the approximate size from the DRE enough info or is it really necessary from the ultrasound. Will a Urologist really check it without a biopsy? The reason I ask, is because I still don't have my prostate desnisty but just an approximate size of 30-40cc. I do have BPH.

My Uro told me the dimensions of my prostate from a frontal US done in his office. A transrectal US could give dimensions of the zones too. DRE dimensions are guesstimates. magine trying to guage the volume of a plum by only touching one side of it with one finger.
