Stunned by the diagnosis?

I was online, reading info about questions to ask regarding my prostate biopsy report which would have been delivered tomorrow. The phone rang; it was the NP from the urologist. "No negative tumor; no atypical cells found," she said. "You don't need to come in for the report..." I'm as stunned as I am grateful to hear this news. Even so, given all that I've read during the past 90 days about prostate cancer, I find some inner mistrust about the results. The NP does not think a second read of the slides is necessary since no atypical cells were found. Should I send them out anyway? I'm elated, confused, and at a loss for words. She said we will do another PSA/DRE in 6 months to follow. What should I do with this news?

Re: Stunned by the diagnosis?

Celebrate! (I think you meant it was not positive for tumor). No atypical cells, not even PIN is great!

You might want to review my initial advice to you when you announced on here that you wanted a biopsy. It might be a good idea to do that before your next PSA test so you don't get into an endless cycle of unnecessary biopsies.

Re: Stunned by the diagnosis?

Congratulations for the negative results.
Try concentrating now on the BHP case, how far is it bordering you .
Continue the periodical testing (PSA, DRE, etc) and most of all, enjoy life.
