i was told that i should go on a hormone therapy because of my prostate. and i would like to know how this is done best? can you advise me a good doctor? i heared a simple (sub epididimal) orchiectomy is the easiest and cheapest way.
Orchiectomy is one option for eliminating testicular testosterone production, but whether it's right in your case will depend on a lot of factors. If you give us more information, we might be able to better address your questions. Things like: your treatment history, diagnosis, stage, current PSA and PSA doubling time, any bone scans, age, location, kinds of doctors you've talked to, whether or not you have insurance/Medicare coverage.
Because if you're 90, an orchiectomy often makes more sense than ADT for the rest of your life; at 65, the permanent loss of testosterone may be more troublesome. I have no idea what your diagnosis or situation is, so it's impossible to comment.
How do I know what?
There are medicines that accomplish the same thing chemically and possibly reversibly. I have no idea of what your situation is, but you should probably see an oncologist.
