Joined the forum this evening. Diagnosed and confirmed with second upinion about 3 months ago. Gleason 4 + 4. PSA at 7.1. 4 out of 12 positives. Currently doing hormone therapy and IMRT at Oregon Health and Sciences University. Using Calypso Beacon System. 14 treatment done, 14 to go.

WelcomeRon. Had IMRT last winter. Had two 6-month injections of Eligard. Minimal side effects. Wish the same or less for you.

Thanks for the welcome. So far side effects are "hot flashes" from the hormone therapy, which the doctor says he wants to keep me on for 2 + years. Some other minor dis-comforts, but nothing major. Now 17 down, 11 to go. Can I ask what your minor side effects were?

Hot flashes and "female" type mood swings. I was an easy-going guy by nature but on the Hormones, I could get quite testy. ED problems but I think that will improve as the Eligard wears off.

Yep. Those would be side effects. Same here. BTW...I am sure by now you have had your PSA's re-tested. How have the results been?

Initial PSA was 7.8 At end of IMRT it dropped to 0.03, then in September it was 0.1 Dr. says the next September reading will be more meaningfu. The Hormones will have worn off by then.
