Well, this years has started off much better than the last couple. The urethra reconstruction was a success. A month ago I had my colostomy reversed. Things were not very good at first. Very serious urgency and frequency issues. Those issues have improved but need to improve considerably more. I saw my doctor today and he says they should. And to start doing butt clinches.
I go in next week to see the amazing doctor that did the reconstruction. At this appointment we will be discussing a sphincter implant for my bladder. Hopefully that will be around the end of february. Then I can get rid of this clamp. Not a comfortable device to wear.
I hoped that this would provide complete bladder control, but I guess it is designed to leak a little so you don't burst your bladder or back everything up into your kidneys. So it will mean wearing pads. I guess a couple a day. There is one member from Toronto, Canada who said that was the way things were for him. So I guess that is as good as it gets. It will be a huge improvement over my current state which is no bladder control at all.
After that all that I will need is a penile implant or pump. I'll think about that for awhile. It would certainly be nice to be sexually capable, I guess. I am 64, not young, but not so old to be totally disinterested.
Well , that is the latest news in my medical saga.
I wish everyone out there, all the members the very best with your particular
situations and a happy new year.
