I had a colposcopy today after having my first abnormal pap. He told me that the pap showed atypical cells and the high-risk HPV (I do not know the strand).
During the colp procedure, he said that when he put the vinegar on the cervix to see if there were any bright areas, that the two small places he biopsied were very faint in color. To a point where he believes that the colp results will either come back normal or with mild precancerous cells.
Here is my question. and take into consideration that I have been in a monogomous relationship with my fiance for 3 and a half years I have had anal sex before... granted it has been at least 2 years since then. But I also have given oral sex pretty regularly. With being told that I have high risk HPV, should I be worried about these other cancers such as anal cancer and oral cancer? Should my fiance?
Anal and oral cancers are more rare than cervical, but now that you know you have a high-risk strain, and you have engaged in anal and oral, I would let your doc know you'd like those areas checked regularly, the same as your cervix. It is a reasonable precaution. Your fiance should have his mouth/throat checked too when he has his annual (as I'm sure they do anyway).
