Chronic Anal Fissure + Colonoscopy
I'm a mid 40' male who's been battling a chronic anal fissure for 8 years. It has not bothered me for more than 5 years other than a minor flair up or two that didn't last long. Yet, I still have to be diligent or pay the price.
Over the past 2 years, I've noticed what appear to be 2 skin tags. One the size of a small pimple on the outside of the anus, which disappeared on it's own and one that feels more like the size of a small pea on the inside of the anus exactly where the fissure is.
With that said and a family history of colon cancer and other bowel disorders, I feel it may be a good idea to have my first "Preventive" Colonoscopy now instead of waiting until I'm 50 as some physicians have suggested. However, I fear that the procedure will rip the fissure back open, which I dread.
With this procedure being voluntary, I'd appreciate hearing the experiences of anyone who may have had a colonoscopy while they were still battling a chronic fissure.
