| Chemo or No Chemo for stage 3? Please...
My dad was recently diagnosed with rectal cancer. (2 weeks before) and quickly went for the resection in one of the best colorectal surgeon in Singapore. The pathology report shows that only 1 lymph node out of 8 lymph node found was positive. The surgeon advise that no chemo is necessary at this stage (eventhough this is considered as stage 3 as 1 lymph node turns out to be positive) and has advised us to do a close monitoring and follow up. The surgeon also advised that the oncologist will usually advise to do chemo in this case as this is what they will usually do per protocol.. we are confuse now, whether to listen to our trusted surgeon or we shall seek for second opinion of an oncologist.. well, of course we would rather choose not do proceed with chemo as we all know this is "toxic" drugs and if we don't need it, why should we go for it?!
Eagerly looking forward for your valuable advise and sharing...
