Confused and worried

Hello,

Ok so I came to this site to see if I can get some answers to my worries and find out more on HIV Testing and How it works. This is my story

4 Months ago I hooked up with this random girl I met at a bar. We had Oral sex only ( some fingering?. A couple of weeks later I became very ill with a really bad "virus" that doctors cant put a name on. This caused a lot of body pain in my limbs, neck and my lypmh nodes swelled up in my neck, armpits and groin. I had a really bad sore throat and a lot of pain in my throat for a long time. This went on for about 5-6 weeks. It was horrible I still to this day feel a dull pain in my arms and legs that comes and goes through out the day. I got tested and 3 and 1/2 months at my doctors office he took blood work and tested me. The test came back negitive. Which is good but my question is 1) What kind of test do doctors usually do?
2) How well do they work?
3) Is there a chance that I can have a false negitive?
4) What are the odds of me having to wait the 6 months to test positive?
5)Why is oral sex a low risk when women can have small traces of blood there at any point in time?
6) can I really trust my results and put this fear behind me?
Please help me with these questions I really dont know about this stuff and I am really worried

[QUOTE=luvzprpl;4672700]Hello,

1) What kind of test do doctors usually do?

they will usually give you a oral swab
that is the most sensitive kind of test.
you can also get a blood test.

2) How well do they work?
they are very accurate,
they are the only way
that you can be confirmed even having hiv..
without a positive test result, you cannot be diagnosed with hiv.

3) Is there a chance that I can have a false negitive?

there is a chance you can get hit by a bus also
if you had a low risk to begin with
the chances are next to none or zero.

4) What are the odds of me having to wait the 6 months to test positive?

unless you are a iv drug user or on cancer/autoimmune drugs

you have no reason to wait that long
3 months is more then sufficant time

5)Why is oral sex a low risk when women can have small traces of blood there at any point in time?

there has been extensive studies done on the question of oral sex
the findings so far are

oral sex is considered no risk for hiv
oral sex is not a proven path of hiv transmission
it has a theroretical chance of happening
but no one has proved it has happened yet
and until it has been confirmed to of happened
it is no risk.

for the infection to occur the bloods must be mixed together then
they must be reintroduced back into your system.
that will happen only during vaginal or anal intercoarse thru friction in the skin
making microscopic tears.
the only sexual hiv transmission risks are
unprotected anal or vaginal intercoarse
thats it...

6) can I really trust my results and put this fear behind me?

yes,yes,and yes
you had a no risk encounter
then tested negative well after the recommended window
whatever is making you sick
is not hiv
chill out and relax
you are hiv negative...
good luck

Re: Confused and worried

Thank you for your reply. I do under stand that 3 months is considered conclusive. If that's the case why does almost every site say to test again @ 6 months? U say that since I'm not a drug user or cancer patient I should be ok?

To ease your worries, the latest tests are now concidered conclusive at 6 weeks U say that since I'm not a drug user or cancer patient I should be ok?
Yes your negative, no more testing is required.

Re: Confused and worried

Thank you guys for your reply. But I cant help to think that me having oral sex with this girl has something to do with me being so sick. I know that my risk was low or none and that I have had a HIV test come back negative after the window period but I still feel like there could be a chance. Am I crazy? is this even possible? I really dont know why im feeling these ways I never felt this way after sex with someone why is this happening now?

Re: Confused and worried

you being sick was just a coincidence..

you feelings are wrong
you are hiv negative
confirmed by conclusive testing
with never any risk of hiv exposure to begin with.
those are the facts..
hiv is not as easy to get as you are thinking...
if you cannot grasp these facts you might want to seek
professional help.
there is no mystery about testing or transmission risks
they have been studing hiv for 30 years now.
good luck

Re: Confused and worried

Hiya, i would very much agree with smit, thats its very likley a coincidence.
Your are certainly negative from HIV, thats for sure.
The only thing you may want to test for, its very slim but their is a chance of STD's and HSV ( herpes ). It would be quite hard to get it from that, but its certainly not HIV and more than likley a coincidence.

the reason why is
once the information is posted on the internet it is there forever..
it doesn't matter if the information is old and outdated
or wrong because there is nothing out there to monitor or correct this.

the web can be your best friend
and your worst enemy all in one..
