Re: Bump near Anus

hey saffron rice -- for piece of mind, i hope you have the chance to see a doc about your bump very soon.... tests for finding out about lumps ?may? include an MRI or CTScan or even an xray can tell them what it is and what may need to be done with it. so many rectal lumps are just left alone because the high %age of them are always benign ---- but do get it checked....in case it is something that could affect your tail bone in the future.....or is that small %age of lumps that needs removal immediately. good luck.....

Re: Bump near Anus

Thanks very much. I spoke to a G.P. who told me that a General Surgeon should be consulted. So i'm in the process of trying to get that all important appointment. I am praying that it is nothing serious. Thank you for your advice again.

Re: Bump near Anus

A non-tender lump that size could be a simple cyst, like a sebaceous cyst, arising from a skin oil gland. This can be identified easily by just a look and feel of it, and can be left alone or removed if it is going to bother you or worry you. An abcess or large pimple (furuncle) is usually painful or tender. Ingrown hairs can occur there, but again, are usually tender and inflamed. Most likely something not serious, benign, but you need to have a doctor look at it. Oily skin makes people prone to sebaceous cysts, which can occur anywhere.
