More basal cells - Cancer: Skin Message Board

Has anyone tried Effudux or Aldera? I am currently using Aldera but am curious if the Effudux works better? I have several new spots which I am sure are basal cells and plan to ask my dr about the Effudux. I am going in for biopsies in March. May try to treat several at the same time. Just wanted to know if anyone has tried it and if they were successful.

I have used Effudex many times for pre-cancers but never for an actual BCC. The doctor gave me Cortisone to apply ten minutes after the Effudex so it wouldn't itch or burn.

What do the precancers look like? Do you get them biopsied first?

To me they looked like Basal Cells but the dermatologist said they were precancers. Others he wasn't sure of so he biopsied them.

I have actually tried both. They both work about the same, but I would have to say that the Aldara was a bit more irritating to my skin cancer (a good thing)...I have also used Carac cream (a topical chemotherapy cream) which is great because you apply it all over and it actually brings out any hidden cancers under the skin.
