Skin cancer on arm - Cancer: Skin Message Board

I have a skin cancer on my lower arm about the size of a pea. I have had one just like it before. They grow very slowly and mine are pinkish in color. I had the first one removed with a laser. Since I don't have insurance, I wish there was a way to get it removed cheaply. Since these skin cancers grow only on the surface of the skin, why can't they make some kind of medicine that you could apply to it and the med would EAT IT away. Sounds to easy doesn't it? You all have heard of "Compound W" used to dissolve warts. Why not some forms of skin cancer? Oh well, just wishing for an easy simple cure.

I know what you mean about not being insured.
Fees are straight from my pocket and that gets to be pretty expensive after awhile.
I had to have a carcinoma removed from my ankle a year ago surgically which seems to have been the least costly,it was only 82 dollars Thank God, painless it was not however due to the depth required.
I made the mistake and raised up to see what he was doing and saw the little tiny scapel, well none the less I was sick to my stomach for awhile.
I agree and have had the exact same thoughts that there should be some type of cream or ointment to dissolve skin cancers.
I thought I was thinking weird but apparently not so weird after all huh.
I have more on my backside but there is no way I am letting them cut there!!!!!

Faithwalker, I just wanted to say that I have joined a program called Parkland Health Plus. Parkland is a hospital in Dallas,Tx where people who don't have insurance or much money can join this program. Seeing a general practicioner would cost me $10. A specialist would be $20. Emergency care would run $30. I will have to go to a dermatologist to have this cancer removed. Just $20, not too bad at all. Thank goodness for programs like this. Have you looked into a program like this? Good luck. Kevin

Thanks Kevin for the information.
We used to have a program available here in Laurel county but they recently shut it down.
I am presently contacting different individuals for myself and my organization trying to establish some health care resources for us but it seems like an uphill battle.
I have spent the biggest part of the day on the phone with our capital as well as most of the state.
But I will keep trying.
