I know it's been a while since you posted this, but I too have Bowen's Disease. Mine showed up on the vulva. It was a flat (only slightly raised) nodule on the skin. It noticed it when I wiped myself and headed straight for the Dr. Had a punch biopsy done and it came back as squamous cell sarcoma. After that I had CO2 laser ablation (under general anesthesia) of the whole area. Not a real pleasant experience, but nothing unbearable. After it all healed, I had a re-check with the gyn. and everything was AOK and did not need to have another re-check for 6 months. About 2 weeks after seeing him, I noticed another bump - same area. This time had another punch biopsy. Results came back that it was a "high grade" squamous cell sarcoma (again, Bowen's Disease). Dr. decided to do a wide excision of the area. That was 4 months ago and the area is still a little tender, but healed well. I too, was told by one Dr. that it was a skin cancer and another Dr. says it is a pre-cancer. All I know is that you don't mess around with cancer. Pre-cancer or cancer. I've done quite a lot of research on the disease. Both procedures that I had done were exactly what all the articles suggest doing. I've seen some pretty nasty pictures of it left untreated. Not something I would want. Articles suggest that leaving untreated can cause metastic cancer. So, anyone with this disease - please have it treated early.
