This is my first post so Hi to you all,
Just looking for support really..
In April 2004 my then 21 year old son had a malignant melanoma excised from the right side of his back, a succsesful operation we were told at the time, after the operation Steve attended regular 3 monthly check ups only to find that this last check up there appeared to be a lump under his right armpit this was on thursday 21st April he was told to attend a clinic on Monday25th,
Unfortunatley on the Sunday evening he became very ill complaining of severe head ache and nausea and was admitted to hospital, any way the abridged version is that they have found two melanoma legions on his brain,
All the options have been explained to us and radio therapy is due to start on 10th May, He is currently taking steroids and paracetamol and anti nausea capsules and as such is well in himself but I really need to hear from any body who has had similar experience, and to get an idea of what the outlook is in plain talk rather than doctor speak sorry it's a long post but thanks to all who support these boards Rick

I have not had a similar experience, having been checked every three months, then every six months and now am cancer free for two years...

...I have nothing to offer except deep sympathy for the anxiety you must be experiencing with the news of this set back for your son.

If you do not feel as though you could grasp all the information you were given at that first doctor appointment, you of course can make another appointment to hear the information again...and bring someone else slightly removed from the immediate situation, with a list of questions, so that you (all) can ask again, and be perfectly clear about options, prognosis, and any other concerns you may have.
