Unhappy Worried!

Hi. I'm new to all this. I had three moles removed, one on each shoulder and one on my back. I really don't know what was so "special" about these moles as they look like all the rest of them that I have. They were all small and dark in color, no redness and not raised. I ended up with six stitches in one and three in each of the others. Is that a normal amount? Six seemed like an awful lot. I will find out Thursday, but my dermatologist already said in her own words that it's cancerous. My kids have the same birthday - Thursday - and when I mentioned this to the doctor she said "I wouldn't want to get this kind of news on my kids birthdays." How does that sound to you? Can doctors pretty much tell once they cut out the mole if it's cancer? I'm so scared since she made that comment and she went so deep on the one arm. Is it possible she would have gotten it all or will it require more surgery and treatments? I can't get sick - I have two small children, one's a diabetic and the other is mentally challenged. We are going through a lot with just the kids. We are waiting for fragile x tests to come back on my son and I have to take him to therapy every week and it looks like he has some diabetic tendencies too. I have a job interview on Thursday too, we can't afford the medical expenses as it is. Did anyone have any other signs? I'm not losing weight and I feel fine. Tired, but I think that is just stress related. I'm sorry this is so long, I guess I just need to get it out. Thanks.

Re: Worried!

Doctors can make mistakes. Do your best not to think about it until you go back to the doctor's office. My doctor thought my bumps were benign when they weren't, so why can't the opposite happen? You probably have a doctor who plays it safe and removes anything suspicious.

Re: Worried!

Jen, I know you were worried about the three biopsies. Have you gotten your results back?

(6 stitches sounds about normal to me, by the way. What kind of procedure was it though? That sounds like a full excision or a punch biopsy for a larger sized mole.)
