I m currently taking retin-a for the same reason. I have had a lot of sun damage and the dr suggested retin-a. This is my second round with it. Essentially what is does is makes your skin layer shed, therefore getting rid of damaged skin. Not sure if it is going to work or not in the long run but I am hoping it does

I have had three basal cells on my face and see many more aks and sebacious keratosis etc. All signs of skin damage. I am only 33 and this all started when I was very young-26..........
Anyway, I do like the way the retin-a clears my face. I almost feel like my face is now and fresh when I use it

I guess it is worth it for just those reasons alone.
