What is considered early detection? - Cancer: Skin Message Board

This past week a mole that I have had on my face for as long as I can remember started swelling. I thought it was a pimple growing beside it, but over the past couple of days it has swelled alot, if i touch it then pus pours out. The mole is now actually on the side of this peanut size lump on my face because of the way the lump formed. It is sore and quite painful to touch. It reminds me of a cyst but it grew almost under my mole. I have a drs. appt on Friday, but of course I am scared to death. Everything I read says early detection has 95% cure. What I wonder is it considered early detection by noticing the changes now and going to the doc, or would early detection be considered by checking the mole before it showed any signs of changes. Everyone please tell me what you think, so maybe I can atleast get a little sleep between now and Friday!! Thanx in advance!!

Get your self to a dermagolist I had the same thing on my face and I just learned it was melanoma cancer Get it tested right away. I am going in on Aug 29 to remove the rest of it and see where I go from Here Good Luck to you

I am equally worried in the same manner. I have a similar thing on my neck for a year or two, I hardly remember. Now it seems worrying even more when it itches and releases puss when I squeeze. I must see the doctor, I don't know when and at what cost. I need advice and encouragement.
