I just recently had a suspicious mole removed and it was diagnosed as a spitz nevi. My dermatologist wasn't so reassuring on the diagnosis telling me that well if the pathologist says that's what it is then I guess we will have to go with that. He also said he got it all "just in case."
I think I should go for a second opinion because I have been reading about the spitz nevi diagnosis and it's a pretty hard to tell one from melanoma. I am seeing my GP about a CT scan I had on Friday, so I am going to ask him. I just wonder if I am being silly asking for a second opinion. What I read really makes me worried

because most people that get these spitz nevi's are children or young adults. I am almost 30 years old. Also, they say most spitz nevi are also noduler and pink/red. Mine had the symptoms of melanoma (dark with light brown pigment bleeding into the normal skin, brand new mole, larger than a pencil eraser).
