| Re: Bowens, SCC Grade 3, VIN III update
When my melanoma was discovered, I joked with the surgeon when he was checking in between my toes by telling him I'd never been sunburned there. He came back, extremely serious with, "Melanoma can strike anywhere it has a mind to, even in places where the sun has never seen." I started quizzing him on different places: "down there," inside of my mouth, etc. He said basically anywhere there is skin - and that is if there is a primary to be found, which sometimes there isn't. (And let's remember, there is ocular melanoma as well!) His words have always stuck with me, and my monthly skin checks always include a FULL body check. And thankfully, my dermatologist always gives a once over check as well.
It's always good to have the word spread, though. So thanks, for the reminder! I will continue to hope for the best for you! And hope that biopsy turns out to be nothing!
