| Really worried about skin biopsies
I am 30 years old, fair skinned, but pretty diligent about using sunscreen. My grandfather passed away this past fall from malignant melanoma. I took it hard and still struggle with it. I finally worked up the nerve to see a dermatologist last week because I have had some new moles pop up over the last few years and my mom has been pressuring me to get checked out. The doctor found 5 moles that were 'suspicious'. All had irregular borders and different shades of brown. I have one that looks terrible ever since the biopsy...it is bruised pretty bad and just doesn't seem to be healing up at all...it still oozes blood. It isn't sore but looks really bad. Should I be worried about it not healing? Should I be concerned that the doctor found 5 areas of me that were suspicious...is it normal to have that many questionable moles??? I also have had some bad joint pain the last month or so...unexplained...I didn't mention that to the derm....could it be connected to a malignant melanoma??? I should have results back by the end of this week....in the meantime I am stressed out about this.
