First post. First Skin Screening tonight.

Hello All. Just wanted to introduce myself: My name is Jenn, 39yo, and I'm going to my first skin cancer screening tonight. Last week I noticed a change to a freckle on my thigh. Started off flat and now it is slightly raised, scaly, and a little dry. I was extremely foolish about the sun up until a few months ago. I went to the tanning salon every Summer for about 6 years and was never really diligent about Sunscreen despite my fair skin. Call me a fool because it is precisely what I was. Now I am a woman, counting the minutes and seconds, sobbing quietly so that my co-workers don't hear me, until my 7pm appointment. I've been coming onto this message board for the past few days and the warmth, hope, truth, and caring in many of your messages is what brought me to register. Thank you to you all. God Bless.

Re: First post. First Skin Screening tonight.

Hi,
Have no fear most cases are non-malignant.
I was a teenager in the early 60s and there was no suncream, we took a risk we didnt even know about.
I have had one large lump removed fom my nose, started as a pinhead size spot and grew in three weeks to the size of a small finger nail.
Also three moles removed which were slightly raised with centre indentation and itched all the time.
All looked very suspicious but turned out to be non-malignant after biopsy and then removal. I wish you well.

Solofelix.
