Re: Please please help
Hello and welcome! I am not a medical professional, so my opinion is really not worth all that much, but I can give lots of encouragement! I can tell you that I don't think the picture you've provided looks anything like melanoma, so I hope that makes you feel better. It does sort of, kind of, vaguely resemble the basal cell my mother had on her leg - but then, I'm not an expert. And, just to let you know, basal cell is a very, very slow growing carcinoma, usually caused by direct exposure to sunlight. Prognosis is normally always very good. It is one of the skin cancers that is surgically removed, and you are good to go. If it is in an area that is exposed (such as facial), there might be some cosmetic surgery as well.
But, as I stated, I'm no expert. It doesn't appear to be melanoma, which is the most aggressive of skin cancers. You are seeing the doctor and that is a good thing! I know it can seemingly take forever to see a derm, but you should be okay by 17th. Good luck and keep us all posted!
