tonsillitis that keeps coming back, any advice?

Hey, I'm 16. I started having tonsillitis when I was 12. A year after having my first tonsillitis attack, it keeps on getting back every month. Atleast once a month. Right now, I'm still suffering from tonsillitis. Any advice? A haven't taken any operation in my past so I'm having second thoughts about the whole operation thing. If you know an option, please help me. Badly need it. Thanks!

Have them out. That's my only suggestion. They may be chronically infected and that's the only remedy.

Won't that be dangerous?

Get them out. I wish I pushed more when I was in my 20s and then in my 30s. It's not that I had consistent infections, but I get tonsilstones and tonsil "guck", and clean them daily. I'm 58, and loathe the process....

Don't wait. If you have chronic infections and your tonsils are now overloaded, they're not working any longer. As well, continuous antibiotics aren't good either.

Chronic sick tonsils can give you bad breath, and possibly other gastro issues in the future. They cannot say living with chronic tonsil issues is fine, because it's not.

GET THEM OUT...lol. not yelling, just emphasising.

No, it's not really any more dangerous than any other same day surgery. It's a fairly simple procedure. The recovery is pretty long - all things considered but it's not all that awful. I had mine out at age 25 - it sure wasn't fun but I've been miraculously well since then! Have them out before you have other issues - sinus infections, ear infections with possible deafness, etc.

Thanks for your advices, I really appreciate it. Well, I have to think whether to take them out or not. I'm still nervous about the whole surgery thing. But really, thanks.
