Hello Everyone!

I am new to this board. I have a question I have been going through a lot of medical test for a lot of symptoms and I was wondering if I could possibly have throat cancer or something. About 3 weeks ago my throat felt big or something (adams apple area) I had alot of drainage a ton and still do (all clear) sinus allergy meds and robutussin helps, and I constantly have to cough. I do not have a sore throat or anything. My throat no longer feels big but the drainage will not stop without the meds and it just worries me. Is constant throat drainage a sign of throat cancer. I am sorry for being a bother. I have just been through so many other things and they still do not know what is wrong with me.

Hi - I have read some of your previous posts, and I am wondering whether you have followed through about being tested for Lyme disease. I have known quite a few people who have had Lyme and didn't discover it in time for it to be completely cured. So, they have to take antibiotics each time they have a flareup. My son knew he had been bitten by a tick but didn't get the 'circle'. He did get Bell's Palsy and then tested positive fr Lyme.
Fortunately, the antibiotics cured him. He went to a Lyme disease specialist who said that he had discovered it in time to catch it early and thus be cured. Others I have known continue to have occasional flareups, which are helped with antibiotics. My son didn't have the usual symptoms of arthritis.
As you know, Lyme disease can mimic almost every other disease, which makes it very difficult to diagnose if the red rash and circle don't appear. You could ask your doctor to test for Lyme and also ask him to let you try taking an antibiotic just to see if that helps relieve you of your symptoms.

Like you, I also have a thyroid nodule with normal TSH readings. My throat sometimes feels "full", and I feel a difference when I swallow - the nodule is on the left side, and I have a weird feeling on the right side when I swallow.
I recently had laryngitis and, like you, I worried about throat cancer. But, that has cleared up even though I still feel a different sensation on the right side when I swallow. Doctors don't like to give thyroid medication unless the tests are really off because the dosages are hard to regulate. Your endo
probably doesn't see any other symptoms. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes I have thought about Lyme and do want to see a Lyme literate doc. I was just wanted to make sure that all other things were ruled out because it acts so much like a tumor or something like that being compressed when I am sleeping (not the drainage of course but my other posts) I seen my PMR today and he wants me to get a second opinion by another ENT on my head pressure. I am also getting a spinal tap. I will have that checked for lyme. I have had the one blood test done for lyme but it was neg. I am having another thyroid ultrasound tomorrow. I had TSH, Free T4, and Anti-TPO antibodies done yesteday just waiting on the results. My chest MRI came back negative. Thank God. I will post when I hear every thing else. I am so glad that they caught your sons lyme in time.

I know this is an older post, but I had very similar symptoms and my ENT said it was a textbook case of Silent reflux.

The lump in my throat was enough to drive me up the wall. I also have the constant post-nasal drip, the throat clearing and I have had a few instances of laryngitis which are all symptoms.

I was started on 40mg of zegerid a day and it has cleared up the lump in the throat feeling after 3 days of being on it, now I'm just waiting for the nasal drip and throat clearing and cough to go away.

Hi there,

I've had a constant cough, sore/dry mouth, enamel loss for about a year. I had a bad sinus infection over 10 weeks ago and since then I've felt there is a lump in my throat. I also get pain on the lefthand side of the larynx, left lower jaw, left ear and shoulder. I've been on acid reflux medication (different drugs, stronger dozes etc.) for about 6 weeks and nothing helps. Symptoms are getting worse. Finally my doctor has agreed to send me to an ENT but it will not be for another 4-6 weeks! I am terrified that it's cancer and too far gone by the time I get seen.

I am a smoker and drink alcohol. I'm 37. Similar symptoms and your outcome anyone? Any advise?

Is the lump in your throat a constant feeling or does it come and go. I now just have a lump in my throat that comes and goes along with a little tenderness around my adams apple area. I seen an ent and he did a very good exam (scope up the nose and down the throat) and I even had a CT scan of the neck which came back normal. He said it was just Globus sensation or cricopharyngeal spasm. The constant cough could be from the lump in the throat feeling. The loss of enamel sure leads me to think of acid reflux damage. Have you ever had an endoscopy? Let me know. Good luck to you.

Hi Karen and thank you for your kind reply. The feeling comes and goes but for the last couple of days I've had almost constant pain on the left hand side of the throat and the coughing is getting worse. I also get earache (left side only) and lower jaw ache. I have 4-6 week wait to find out when I can see the ENT specialist and I am almost beyond caring now... Thanks for your advise.

have you tried an antibiotic. Is there any way you can get some to try if you have not? Do you have a lump anywhere? ****** cricopharyngeal spasm and see if that could relate to you. I wonder if you could have a salivary gland infection. I also had one of those durning all of this. That could explain the pain in the jaw and neck. ****** salivary gland infections and check that out also. Let me know and good luck. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
