I am lookign for someone that has previous surgery on tonsil base and lymphnodes--and side effects after radiation. Mine are severe--with swelling of throat, pain from nerves in face, and pain in chest and back area. Im wondering is it from radiation--I finished radiation Dec 2nd 06 seems to be more problems each night. Anyone that help with information will be very much appreciated.

My friend had throat cancer, stage4 . He did not have surgery but chemo & radiation. He had swelling, mouth sores and very dry mouth.He also had back pain that seemed strange but he did. His neck was burnt on the outside also.Try to measure your improvement by weeks not days. It seems like forever, but it will get better! hOPE THIS HELPS!!

My friend just finished her treatment for throat cancer. She could only get chemo & radiation, surgery was NOT an option. I don't recall her saying anything about the back pain but that radiation sure is wicked stuff!! She still has a very hard time eating due to the lack of saliva.
I just want to say it does seem like this will never end but it will and there is light at the end of the tunnel. Power of prayer really works.

I wanted to say thank you to both of you for your kind words and responses. Are your friends in remission currently? I go for my pet scan tomorrow. -Dave

My brother just finished treatment for tonsil cancer. He is still having so much trouble. He had 7 weeks of chemoradiation and had his PET scan last week -- CANCER FREE!! He will not need surgery...we are thrilled. He still has no taste and has difficulty eating. I had 6 weeks of chemo/radiation for rectal cancer - so I know how it feels on the other end...I'm sure in the throat is unbearable.

Yes. Pet scan came back clear a few months ago,now next week it's another cat scan. How did you make out today?

Yes, he has been in remission since Nov 04. Pet scan was all clear. He is still trying to gain weight and has dry mouth but that has improved a good bit.I believe in the power of prayer also!!!

Prayers are what has been getting me through day to day and going to church. I will find out about the pet scan in a few weeks. Thank you for the hope and responses.
