Throat Cancer
Dec 2008 I was diagnosed with throat cancer - had a 12 hour surgery in Jan 2009 - then radiation in March 2009 -

My last check up in Dec shows no sign of recurrance but the problems I am facing now is lack of appetite and ability to eat a proper balanced diet. Swallowing is an issue and I have lost a total of 130 lbs over the last year.

I now have lost muscle all over the place and was wondering if anyone knows how I can try to rebuild the muscles instead of all the loose flabby skin I have left.

hello,congratulations on beating throat cancer...i a so proud you are a survivor of that horrible disease..the best way to get some lean muscle back is to work out with light weights and do alot of reps.. that should help you alot..may i ask when you first got throat cancer what your symptoms were? reason i'm asking i have been battling an issue now for 7 months or so..i sneezed one day and i had a horrible pain in the right side of my throat..i stayed sore for a month.. i went to the ear nose and throat doctor and he looked at my throat and wasnt worried about anything serious..it finally got better.. well several months ago i sneezed again and the same thing again..the pain hurts when i swallow,when i yawn and when i sneeze.. i mentioned throat cancer to my doc and he said he was positive it wasnt that..he told me for one that cancer dont hurt like that..my chiropractor seems to thing its a disk in my upper neck area... do you have any idea what it could be.. i have never smoked or drink and i'm only 30 yrs old.. thats why i dont think it would be cancer... any suggestions ?????

My symptoms included a sore throat and soreness when swallowing. The doctor put me on antibiotics and when I went back because it was still sore - he didn't like the look of it so arranged for a specialist. It turned out that a tonsil had grown back and was cancerous.

There is a definite appearance and I am sure your dr. would tell you if he thought there was any possibility of you having cancer. So rest a bit easier.
