I am a 36 year old CT mom who was diagnosed yesterday with thyroid cancer. I had a total thyroidectomy on Monday and got the pathology reports last night - totally freaking but from what I read - prognosis is good. The surgeon took out some lymph nodes and it looks as if the cancer had spread to the nodes but not the surrounding tissues. I go for my post-op appt. on Wednesday and the plan is to do radioactive iodine soon (a few weeks I guess). Anyone who could give me some advice or words of encouragement would be appreciated. Also, I am trying to find someone else who has to do the treatment in NYC and might want a roomie for a week - we could be radioactive buddies
