Encouragement please!!!!! From success stories..........

I'm 25yr old male
Dec. 7th I had a total thyroidectomy o plus removed right nodes due to papillary thyroid cancer!
Surgery took 6 hours!

Dec 8th...went home !!!
Dec 9th I took a half of 25mcg of Cytomel and immediatley felt signs of hyper (anxiety, insomnia, emotional.

Dec 10th...Took another half ...Same thing happened

Dec 11th... I called the doc and told him what was happening and he said do not take the Cytomel for a 3 days.

Dec 12th...Felt a little better

Today I feel great! Low energy from just having surgery but i feel great!

My QUESTION: I keep reading horror stories of peoples medication not working!

After RAI will I ever feel like I did before surgery?

How long does it usually take to start feeling better and get the meds dosed correctly?

Thank you so much for your time!

Sterling

It will take about 4-6 weeks after RAI for the effects of the levothyroxine to kick in completely. My endo had me on a half dose for the first 2 weeks, which I found out later was the wrong way of doing it. Hopefully you are on the right dose. I feel great---even better than before, because of being kept slightly hyper! Hope this helps!

Re: Encouragement please!!!!! From success stories..........

Take it one day at a time. I just had a TT on Jan 27th. Now I have a cold. I have imagined all sorts of things, and when it comes down to it, I just have to deal with whatever comes. Feel like total crap right now, and anything will be better than this.
