I am waiting since the beginning of sept for a biopsy appt. on 10/4. noticed a lump on the front right pret of my neck on 8/11 saw my dr. the next day and then on my 50th birthday I was making an apt for a Endo dr. to get a biopsy ppt scheduled. That appt is on 10/4 and Im getting a but nervous now, the dr. said he has to stick me 12 times since there are 3 enlarged areas and he need 4 samples from each to be thorough. I will have a numbing cream put on my neck and once it is working I will then have it done. I'm still scared about the biopsy and what the results could be. Just looking for some info from people who have been there, either with thyroid cancer or about the biopsy itself.
Thanks in advance
God Bless

I had a biopsy yesterday. I'd read a few reports on here and mostly it sounds like a pretty straightforward painless procedure although I think some people do experience pain. I was glad to be prepared for that possibility but pleased to say I felt no pain. Some discomfort, but no pain and not sore around my neck area in any way today.
Have you had an ulstrasound? You're lucky you had a good doctor that is investigating this straight away. I went to a doctor with lump on my neck 7 years ago and only getting it checked now by a new doctor - first doctor told me it was a fatty lump and definitely not on my thyroid!
Sorry I can't help with the worry about possible biopsy results - there right now myself and nothing can stop my mind going into orbit worrying how bad it could be after 7 years. But from my experience the biopsy itself was fine. Honestly wouldn't be worried if I was told they need do again next week. All the best
Hi - I had a biopsy of a very large (3cm) nodule on the left lobe of my thyroid, and it was not at all painful or stressful, As long as the doctor doing the biopsy is experienced, it will go very smoothly. The doctor was very good about explaining exactly what he was doing each step of the way,
Good luck and don't worry anymore! Mabent
Thanks for the replies, I feel so much better knowing from ppl who been thru it. Thank you so much. I'm so sorry you have had to go thru all of this and I pray you will be ok. I know I will be nervous that day BUT now I won't be overly worried about the pain levels anymore. God Bless and watch over you that you don't have cancer and get well. Catnap, I did have an ultrasound. I have two enlarged between 1-2 cm one on left one on the middle and one on right that is 2.3 cm.
God Bless
