how accurate is a FNA biopsy, had resulst last week, scan showed i have muilipule nudules with 1x 22mm nodule which was FNA, the result show not much fluid in nodule(CYST) but some hard bits showed in side nodule but all is fine they say, she did say she expected more fluid to come out and was surprised when very little came out on the FNA.. will have another checkup in 6months ... has anyone had a FNA biopsy saying non cancerous later to find out different. having trouble swallowing & choking very hoarse husky vocals for last 12months not painfull thou but do find myself choking a lot and can feel like a tight band round my neck accousonly..

Should i be concerened or is this test very accurate..

i was going through the whole US every six months thing too. I got super proactive because I was having the same symptoms as you and m endo was beating around the bush. I had all labs and path info. sent to a head/neck cancer surgeon/specialist. I had already had skin cancer three times prior and wasnt playing around with the whole "most likely youre fine" nonsense that I heard so many times before and THANK GOODNESS I dont need referrals through my insurance so I go where I choose. The Univ. Of Penn pathology looked at all my US and all my FNA's and found a follicular neoplasm that the other lab a year prior missed. I had surgery and it was a PT. I go back tomorrow to see if I need the rest of my thyroid removed or if I am good to go. Keep me updated and be proactive. I never saw my labs but I had cancer 3 times before this thyroid issue came to fruition, and was told it too was nothing. I learned the only advocate you have is you-so keep on it until you get factual answers.

i am so pleased they are sorting your problems out, your right it is so frustrating,,, they wont look at me again until my next appointment, the thing is i am now tacycardic pulse races as soon as i stand up or try and move, passing out dizzy, hard to breath very shallow breaths, hot sweats and cold one also ( sounds odd but when i sweat it smells funny, not nice at all), short sharp headaches only last 10 - 60 seconds, shakes & tremors are very bad again..

I had a renin and cortisol test done on 22 feb 2012 got results yesterday,

renin extremely low, below 0.2 they said didnt give ecaxt results and 24hr steriod urine test came back showing in its thousands again. Odd as i have addisons this does not make sence to me as cortisol should be low...
Doctor asked me to repeat the test again yesterday, have to sit back and wait now this is the 3rd time they have done this test each time it is abnormal

Im wondering if this could this could have anything to do with the lumps to my lumps in my neck "thyroid" ??? .....or if it could be something else?
I am being referred to a a cardiolist but its the waiting around ... feel so ill at the moment i am not well at all :-(

I went to ENT today for 12 year check-up on my 7+ thyroid nodules, largest is 2cm, numerous others 1-1.5cm, some smaller. 1 has calcification and some are hypoechoic whatever that is. ENT looked at my neck and said you're fine come back in a year. I asked if cancer? He said don't know that. I showed him 2012 US showing most all the nodules have grown. He said oh, you can have FNA but is up to you. What? I understand thyroid cancer is no big deal (to the docs anyway) but come on. He said my symptoms of having something pushing in on my neck at the thyroid area and hoarse voice are from acid reflux. He said discomfort trying to lay down in bed (again at thyroid area) are not from thyroid. I guess I'm having a FNA, if I don't do it now I will never again. Like I said, the last one was 12 years ago. I hate needles. Should I just cancel it and rest assured it's not cancer or if it is, it's no big deal? The docs sure don't seem to be concerned. My mom had thyroid cancer and sis has goiter. Any advice would be appreciated. I don't like having unnecessary procedures. I'm good at watch and wait, have 3 brain aneurysms hoping they don't blow!
