As you may remember I recently had the left lobe of my thyroid removed and was awaiting pathology results. Got the results and they found 3 small spots of Medullary Cells in one of the nodules that was in the thyroid. My doctor said it wasn't a big deal and everything will be fine. I am going for an MRI next week to check the surrounding lymph nodes and then they want to remove the rest of my thyroid.
Did some browsing of Medullary and it seems like a big deal, has any one here been diagnosed with Medullary Cancer?
I am new to this site, and just saw this post. I have Medullary Thyroid Cancer, and yes, it IS a big deal. I hope you read this, as I would like to know what has happened to you since this post.
Definitely send pathology to a second opinion---use either sloane kettering, or md anderson, or johns hopkins, or dana farber, some place with great pathologists. Also you need to work with a better endocrinologist. Perhaps, make an appointment to review those results at a great hospital, even if you have to travel.
