My latest lab results show my "Thyroglobulin, Quantitative at 54.5 (reference range is 0.5-55.0 ng/mL)".
Since it's still within reference range (barely!) should I be concerned? I have multiple thyroid nodules that, as of last December, were supposedly benign. Need insight quickly because I am going to endo tomorrow and need to know if I should push him on this issue if he is dismissive.
I'm assuming that if you have nodules, you have a thyroid, and haven't had any thyroidectomy. Thyroglobulin is a tumor marker for thyroid cancer patients---only after they have had their thyroids removed, and likely RAI to destroy any remnant thyroid tissue. Thyroglobulin measure thyroid tissue, it's basically meaningless for your issue at this point.
Thanks Reece that's good to know. Yes I do still have my thyroid. I went back and pulled my thyroglobulin level from last December and it was at 31.5. Now it's at 54.5 My biopsy was inconclusive. Just trying to make sense of this all.
