| R Thyroidectomy Tomorrow
I am having the right side of my thyroid removed tomorrow. I am nervous. I have nodules in both sides, with a larger one on the right (2.2 x 1.5 cm). I have had an US and 2 FNP's. The first FNP was too overrun with blood, so they couldn't see anything. The second one said "follicular cells organized in macrofollicular groups and also several microfollicular groups.......A follicular neoplasm cannot be excluded. The risk of malignancy for this diagnostic category is 5-15%. Although the specimen is adequately cellular, due to the nature of the cytologic finds............" and something about repeating the FNP.
We have decided to just remove that side to find out for sure. How nervous should I be.....not that it really matters, because I already am very nervous......
