| asymmetrical thyroid
I went to the doctor today for a sinus infection and, after feeling my glands, very casually mentioned that she felt like my thyroid might be asymmetrical and ordered a an ultrasound and blood work. I'm going next week and already had the blood taken. The thing is, when I tried to ask her questions, she was very dismissive. I asked her if they were looking for cancer, and she said, "We always look for cancer." I did have a benign nodule removed when I was 16 (am 49 now), but have had no function problems and no notable symptoms. Also, I'd had a physical a few months ago, and no one mentioned this. I'm a nervous person to begin with and hate waiting, so I thought I'd post here to see if anyone had any insights into what an asymmetrical thyroid might imply (other than that it's bigger one one side!).
Thanks!
