I had a thyroidectomy 9/14/2012 (FVPCT) and am currently on Cytomel (50 mcg) until I have the RAI and scan done. I changed my dosing to 12.5 4X day thinking that might help things, probably didn't get that enough time and changed it to 25 mcg in am; 12.5 mcg mid-day and bedtime. I am taking supplemental Calcium but the obvious signs of need are diminishing (face and hand tingling - so I am easing off the Ca+)
Currently I have ringing in my ears that is horrible. It did ease one day, but I can't correlate it to anything I changed. I also have developed headaches. I had migraines when I was young following a concussion, but never since until now. I was not hypothyroid with the cancer, but Hashimoto's was seen to be well underway. (I just saw a Rhuemy as Sjogrens or SLE.. UGH! is suspected. Waiting for results of tests.)
The worst thing is that I can't think. I take notes all the time, can't remember anything, panic, my decision making is all but gone, and can't sleep for more than 30-45 minutes at a time. I realize there is cause and effect in not sleeping and all the other things..but some of it stands on its own. I literally stand paralyzed with indecision.
So has anyone else dealt with ears ringing, headaches and a brain-ectomy, and if so how did you deal with it? What works? How much of it goes away when you get regulated on Synthroid.. (or whatever)?
