Hello , I am a 39 yr woman that's currently very confused and was hoping somebody could help shed some light on my results for me.
Right lobe measures 6.0 x 2.5 x 2.7 cm left lobe 5.5 x 2.7 x 2.8 cm . The thyroid isthmus 1.3 cm ,they thyroid parenchymal echotexture is heterogeneous, vascular flow within the bilateral lobes is within normal limits and symmetric on color doppler.
A heterogeneous nodule measuring 1.8 x 1.0 x 1.5 cm upper pole right lobe. Another nodule 1.4 x 1.6 x 1.5 cm lower right pole. A 5 mm hypoechoic structure with apparent posterior acoustic enhancement , lower pole left thyroid lobe.
Please explain this to me and if i should be concerned due to blood flow the nodule . Im being sent for a FNA right away. Thank you
Glad you found a doc willing to help you. I can't tell you much because over the years I haven't learned much. What I do know I read about on this site, there are some very knowledgeable people here. Docs I've seen about my thyroid over the years have been quite dismissive so consider yourself fortunate. Best wishes to you!

You have a "multinodular goiter" a lumpy bumpy thyroid, which is less likely to be cancerous. You should get the fna and then watch for growth and changes, they should probably try you on thyroid meds to see if that helps shrink the thyroid and the nodule .

Hi Reese... just curious. Docs I've seen including naturopaths refused to give me anything for thyroid nodules because they said TSH is low normal and they couldn't risk decreasing it. How does that work?
Thank you everybody for your reply's. I am getting more concerned due to my goiter seems to be visibly growing daily. I am starting to have issue with the goiter tilting my neck down to look at my computer at work and even drinking. I'm beginning to wonder if I might need to have it removed even if its not cancer. Does anybody know if the size of my thyroid is so abnormally large that it may call for me to have it removed?
Once it starts interferring with breathing, it needs to come out regardless of whether it is cancer or not. Mine got so large the least bend of my neck was causing problems and I felt like I was constantly being choked by hands around my neck.
