Can a lymph node show in Thyroid Nuclear Scan? Plz Help
I've been searcing everywhere and couldn't find the answer? Can the 'cold' area in thyroid nuclear scan be a lymph node and not a nodule, specially that its dimensions on the ultrasound is 14mmx5mm which is somewhat weird? and the radiologist wrote in the report'somewhat' nodule?

I don't think so. Lymph nodes, although near the thyroid, are separate structures, and they do not take up radioactive iodine like the thyroid tissue does. Nodules can be many sizes/shapes, and this shape is too elongated for a lymph node as well.
