showed up on ultrasound, so the doctor (primary) told me to make an appointment to get a fine needle aspiration asap but all they did was take my information and said they will call me to make an appointment when a radiologist determines if it is safe to do the procedure. Is that normal? What sort of specialist do you see for this? and endocrinologist? Should I go see one before getting the needle aspiration done? Thanks. Doctor said not to panic, how do you not panic.
Thank you for your response. I made an appointment with an ENT/thyroid specialist/surgeon at Jefferson in Philadelphia so I will bring my ultrasound to him on New Year's Eve in the morning and take it from there. I'm still scared crazy but feel I will be in good hands there.
after re-reading your first post, I might have missed something....
i made the appt with the ENT, and he gave me an order for the FNA, and when I made the appt for the FNA it was done by a interventional radiologist, which I understood to mean that he does these things regularly (among other things), but works strictly in the hospital. He was really good, and didn't hurt me at all. Now this was the last time I had it done.....to recheck the other side.
Let me backtrack a bit...LOL the first time I had it done was by my actual ENT doctor, the one who did my lobectomy, and I was expecting him to do the next one, but it wasn't. They were both good, and I worried way too much about the procedure beforehand, and when it was done, I was so relieved and wondered why I worried so much.
Thanks for your reply. The earliest appointment I can get so far is Jan 14 for the needle biopsy. I am more worried about the results. I just want to get it done.
