can uterin polyps turn into cancer

Going for a D&C with hyterscopy to remove polyps or fibroids. Has anyone polyps turned to cancer? Getting a little worried, all this has surfaced in the past few months. If there are polyps, they will be removed for pathology. I am over 50 in peri. Thanks

Re: can uterin polyps turn into cancer

Hi,

I'm 43 and also will be having a large bothersome polyp removed on the 25th. My doc and also all of the research I've seen says its a very low probability that polyps will be cancerous. I'm not too worried about it.

My doctor offered to do a hysterectomy for this. If I wasn't so fearful of surgery I'd consider it as I have 2 children and am fed up with all of my excessive periods.

I'm more worried about a complex ovarian cyst I have that will be re-evaluated and cervical dysplasia. I went in to be checked for irregular bleeding which i thought was just hormones and I find out 3 things are wrong.
I told my doc it really is the pits passing 40!

Hope it all goes well for you.
