I was told I had endometrial cancer at the top of the uterus that had spread down to cervix, very possibly lymph node involvement and I needed Hysterectomy and Chemo ASAP. This was after having a D & C. The oncologist was very negative and said she needed to see where ALL the cancer had spread so ordered a PET SCAN. (Full Body)
It showed A small cancerous area at the very Bottom of the uterus which spread sideways into the cervix, and not much! After talking to several colleagues the oncologist says it is Uterine cancer behaving as cervical cancer. It can be cured with Radiation, which I can tolerate! My cardiologist was against a hysterectomy and my kidney doctor was against Chemo. Waiting for the PET scan results was H_ll, but turned out to be very worthwhile.
I would Highly recommend a Pet scan if the doctor is using a D&C as your only diagnostic test!
