Post I have cancer, too

I have been told I now have a Kidney Disease that has turn into CANCER by the Doc’s at the VA Hop. Here in Kansas City Missouri. At this time I don’t know what type of treatment I may have to take as I will have Surg. On 3/30/2004 . Thy all so have said I may lose at lest one kidney now and part of the other one and I may have lest then 1 year left to live. I’m now 65 years old and I'm dying all I will do from now on is to sell off all I can and do a lot of joking with all the kids and grand-kids 16 years in the Marine Corps and I have to dye like this

Re: I have cancer, too

I don't know Devil60, you sound like you still have a little fight left in you!
Not to mention that you managed to find the best place in the world for support and for caring people.
Right now you're feeling total shock, and maybe a little numb from the diagnosis. That is perfectly normal... But in a bit you'll find that you also want to live life to the fullest no matter what, no matter what form it takes.
And you can feel angry, that it is unfair, that a miracle is due.
Amazingly enough tho, you already have your priorities straight. Spending as much time with family as possible - and add laughter.
Have they mentioned any treatment or are they looking to keep you comfortable?
Please let us know how you're doing.
We're a good place to stop to really let it all hang out - before and after your surgery. You can say exactly what you feel here. 10 to 1 someone has been there, too.
Take care...

*hugs*

Just take it one day at a time. Let the doctors do surgery, and then see where things are at. Nothing is certain at this stage. After the surgery they will know more, and give you further treatment options such as chemo and/or radiation treatments.

Also, ask them about peritoneal dialysis, or hemo dialysis. If they are removing a whole kidney, and part of another, they will probably start you on dialysis to clean your blood; something that the kidneys usually do.

We are all here for you, and while we can't hug you in person, we can give virtual hugs, and sometimes those are just as wonderful as the ones in person. *hugs*

Well bless your heart! Do let us know how you are doing from time to time. Don't ever underestimate what you can and can not do!! The body is a complicated and a remarkable piece of work. No one can be sure how long you have except for the man upstairs.

I believe this with my whole heart and soul. Hopefully you have someone there with you to share your experiences with. There are a lot of groups/ churches/ org. out there that you can lean on for emotional support.

Bless you,

-lilvoyce- A Cancer Survivor
