Hello, I just wanted to ask a question. I hope you don't mind! I am a 29 yr old female. I had some problems with my white blood counts being extremely low about 12 years ago. No diagnoses, The term mylodisplastic syndrome was tosed around as a possible diagnose but I never under went any treatment. My white counts recently have been between 4 and 5 since. Lately my gums have been bleeding. If I suck on my gum at all it will start to bleed

. I went to the dr and they did a cbc and my white count was 5.5. this is the highest it has ever been. Although the very next day I came down with a tremendous case of the flu, so it may be possible that my counts had been effected by this. Just wondering if I should be concerned. I have pretty good oral hygene. My gums don't look inflamed although I am a little late on my cleaning, about 3 months

, Ive just been very busy lately. Any suggestions on what I should do?

I'd probably check with a dentist first before thinking that you're seriously ill, but if you've had trouble in the past you may want to consult your doctor again too. Being late for a cleaning can definitely cause gum problems...I know...I'm late going in myself.

It does seem odd though that they would bleed if you just suck on them...but your doctor and dentist would know a heck of a lot more than me.
