question about paint

i been using spray paint lately to paint my car and on the spray can it says that inhaling the paint can cause cancer or something like that. i put a shirt over my face to block it off but the smell is strong. it even gets into my house and my mom complains. i was wondering if it is a high chance of getting cancer from this. i only used it a few days and im done with it. i heard skin cancer is hard to get. i heard you would have to sit out in the sun all day, everyday, for mayb a year or something, just to get skin cancer. i was wondering if mayb it's the same way with paint.

Re: question about paint

It is true that for most carcinogens, it's prolonged or repeated exposure to them that causes cancer, so I don't think you have to worry too much about painting one car.

However, even one sunburn can cause enough damage to the skin to cause mutations of the skin cells and, eventually, cancer. And there's no way to test for who is most susceptible to developing skin cancer (except that we know that the skin of infants is more susceptible to damage), so the best course of action regarding sun exposure is...the less, the better. NEVER go out in the sun without protection.
