What's that on my face??? - Cancer Message Board

I know it can be frustrating when someone goes into the boards, asking "do I have this?" expecting an online diagnoses, but I am starting to worry and have decided to take the first action by seeking out a second opinion.

On my face (specifically, on the bridge of my nose, left side) I have a small, hard lump. You cannot see it unless you are looking for it because it is under the skin. It has been there for 8 + years and I have never done anything about it, or even asked a doctor. Last summer I had to have surgery to remove some abnormal cells from my body (although they weren't cancerous) and now I have been brought to the reality that even though I'm 19, I can get cancer too. Is it heard of for people to just get cysts or lumps here and there? I never took my bump seriously until recently. Is it necissary that I get this checked out or do people just sometimes get these?

To answer your question - YES! people get cysts on their faces. I'm one of those people. Chances are it's a sebaceous cyst. Just guessing really but from what you describe that is what I'd think it would be. I've had one on my face for probably 15 years now. It's never changed at all and like you - you'd never know it unless I pointed it out. Just keep an eye on it and if at any time it changes then I'd ask the doctor about it or the next time you are in his office just mention it. Hope this helps. People get all sorts of funny little bumps - like cysts and bone spurs and who knows what all. If it's been there 8+ years I REALLY DOUBT it's anything serious, but hey, check with a doctor if it makes you feel better.

I have a small hard bump on the left side of the bridge of my nose as well. This is the second time I've gotten it, the first was a couple years ago and (it sounds gross), but I thought it was a zit that wouldn't go away so i picked it and it finally disappeared. It doesn't hurt or anything, its just a small round bump. I just got it a few days ago and was wondering if that maybe was what you were talking about?
