hi, i just need to know something... my friend "says" she has heart and lung cancer, and has been saying so for the last Year. yet, she still seems to be smoking, and drinking.everyday, she wakes up, she looks FINE. she says her hair has been falling out but i see no spots... does anyone here think she could be lying or do you think she might actually have cancer? id just like to know hehe.

Wow, I hesitate to call this person a liar b/c I don't know her, but I DO have cancer and her behavior sounds compeletely ridiculous to me. Lung cancer and still smoking?

It is true that no all chemo meds make your hair fall out. I did lose my hair, but even so lots of people don't know I'm sick b/c I look so healthly.

On the other hand, I have stopped working due to weekly chemo treatments. Is she under a Dr's care? Has she actually been diagnosed? Does she have lung cancer with metastasis to the heart or vice versa? Has she had a CT scan, blood work, chemo?

Besides the physical symptoms, cancer is very time consuming -- especially advanced cancer as she described. I'm at the hospital at least once a week. Does she talk about her Dr appts?

I smell a rat.

perhaps you could offer to go with her to her next doctor appointment. offer yourself as a friend who wants to better understand and help. just because she is drinking and smoking does not mean she is lying. my friend had fun up till the last two months of her life. she traveled extensively. she once had a blood transfusion and got on a plane for mexico. another time she had a chemo treatment, then a transfusion and hopped on a plane to washington. cancer is as individual as each of us is. so is the emotional process of dying.
go to the doctor with her. she may refuse your offer. i find it is always best to give a friend your shoulder. if they are playing a co-dependant game you will figure it out.
