Post Prostate Cancer

My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer today. The doctor said the cancer is only in stage A1, which I believe is the earliest stage. Does anyone know how fast prostate cancer progresses through the stages, what the most successful ways of treating it are, and what the rates of success are for these procedures? Is prostate cancer an easily treatable cancer?
