Good Morning, I have a cousin with nsc lung cancer, which has spread she is going to start Iressa. If anyone has tried this or is could they please give some information on this drug. My Father also has nsc lung cancer and it has progress into the main bronchli, would this be an option for him?
If anyone has dealt with this cancer please respond.

Blackbird,
I recently read an article about Iressa. Apparently it works in about 20% of cases of nsc lung cancer when other chemos have failed. It appears to work better in women than in men (who knows why), and it works even better for non-smokers than for people who smoked.
I believe there is also another treatment for nsc being studied that's some kind vaccine? I wish I had cut the article out when I saw it six months ago but I didn't. At any rate, that one is still in the clinical trials stage. I believe it was something that was initially being looked at for colon or ovarian cancer and turned out to be helpful for nsc. Try going to the National Institutes for Health web site and do a search on treatments for nsc.
