If i had cancer would it show up in a blood test I did for high blood pressure?

There is no definite way to screen for cancer via bloodtest.

There are some factors that might help determine whether or not you may have cancer. (e.g. high lymphocyte count may attribute to leukemia)

But like I said, there is no sure way of checking for cancer through blood screenings. If you get abnormal blood test results, your doctor may decide to run additional tests to see if it is indeed cancer. Such as a lymphnode biopsy or scans of your body.

I was going to ask the same question as impygimpy.

I thought if a person had cancer of any type the white blood cells would be high.

Out of range white blood cell count can be triggered by many different situations. Such as an infection, inflammation, taking certain medicines(prednisone),leukemia and etc. Of course if you have a above average white blood cell count, it definitely should alarm the doctor, and from there he/she'll decide other methods to find out for sure.

Cancer doesn't necessarily have any effect on blood tests. I had thyroid cancer and all of my labs (including white blood cell count) were always normal. Certain types of cancer will effect blood tests, but many do not.
