How do doctors pre-screen for Cancer?

Cancer is pretty much invisible, right?
For months now, I have been to the doctor and had all the basic tests done within my affordibility range.
I just look so thin even though I am somewhat muscular.
I eat fairly good but can't seem to gain weight.
I suffer from anxiety quite a bit, and I think this is just more of that, but at the same time I look real "veiny" throughout my body. I still have GERD from time to time, and there are certain foods and drinks that just make me belch so bad.
My throat is sometimes scratchy and my voice has changed too.
I am wondering if I have cancer of the esophogus?
I heard it was rare but I don't want to wait til the last minute, if I do.
My doc told me that the test for Celiac disease is about $700 and I think a colonoscopy is even more.
I have no benefits so if I get this done I would have to work out a payment plan for the rest of my life.
Just wondering if "looking thin" and losing weight is a sign of Cancer.
Thanks

E.

dude! that's way too much money. if I had to stick my finger up somebody's ***, I guess I would want to be paid a good amount, but 700 bucks is too much. anyway, I wouldn't worry about it. I never get fat either no matter how much I eat. high metabolism the doctor says

Yeah..but I was 145lbs before I took on a really stressful move/job...then I moved back to PA weighing in at 120!
I was a 34 waist now I am back down to a 29/30. I exercise too, but can't seem to get any muscle mass.

Re: How do doctors pre-screen for Cancer?

OK, so if I have a high metabolism and I "burn off" everythingI eat, I just don't understand why the hell I look so skinny. What I'm trying to figure out is "losing weight" a sign of some type of Cancer developing?
Do people that curently have cancer lose weight? Is it a symptom?
