Cud this be cancer? - Cancer Message Board

I have type 1 diabetes and have had it since the age of 11, i am now 25. Since the age of about 18 i went out binge drinking and heavy smoking near enuff every weekend up until the age of about 23 before realising how stupid i was being, you know what ur like when ur young, thinking im invincible and nothing wud happen from the booze, to make it worse it wasnt just simply drinking beer, it was all sorts of alcahol.

Now i have realised my mistakes and have excellent control over my sugar, very rarely does my sugar go above 12, and usually stays between 4-7.

To the point: The thing is in my foot, i realised this for the first time last night when soaking my feet, and this has got my worried like never before, i can honestly say i am very scared as i know diabetic peoples feet can easily get problems.
I found some sort of lump in my foot near the ankle bone, its quite hard/firm and when i press it it doesnt squash in as if it was soft.

The lump isnt a different colour or anything, its just sticking out and seems to be approximately 2 1/2 inches round. its sticking up approximately 1 mm.

This has got my extremely worried, i dont know if its some sort of football injury (praying that it is just this), or some sort of blood clot which will need surgery or even worse possibly cancer.

I am seeing the doctor tuesday afternoon so have an extremely anxious and nervous wait til then, i am litterally sh*tt*ng myself (pardon the language, but its true).

Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this? Thanks

So sorry you are having something like this happen and that you are worried. I am sorry I do not know if it is anything to worry about or not but you are doing the right thing by having it checked out. I will pray that it is nothing and I hope you let us know what you find out. Will be thinking about you!

HI too have type 1 diabeties.I am now 35 but became diabetic at age of 12. I also have a type of cancer which is kind of rare called mixoidliposarcoma. I had in my hip/thigh area it was removed in 2002 had a recurrance in 2004. Then a few months ago I found a hard round lump in my foot (mine was more toward bottom). All drs said it was the cancer because if couldnt be anything else in its location so had a needle biopsy and turns out it was just a splinter that my body was fighting against and I must have missed. My body built a defense against it a formed hard callus and overtime turned into lump. I was convince it was going to be cancer and so were drs but thank god it wasnt so you are doing the right thing and GOOD LUCK today but take it step by step just may be a lipoma,callus buildup or something else. Dont jump the gun (easier said than done) but will be praying for you....best of luck
